Today’s Learners Tomorrow’s Leaders

YWCA Hanover offers child care that fits today’s working families. All YWCA Child Care Programs are licensed though the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS). We accept funding through the subsidized Child Care Program managed by Child Care Information Services of York and Adams Counties and the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS). Our center also participates in the Department of Education’s Child and Adult Care Food Program.  YWCA Hanover also provides financial assistance for tuition to families who quality due to the funding we received from generous donors to our Annual Giving Campaign and businesses who donate through the PA EITC program.

Providing children with a caring, nurturing, safe and clean, developmentally appropriate environment in which to grow and learn. Nutritious breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks are provided. Each classroom follows teacher-created lesson plans that are based on the PA Early Learning Standards and Teaching Strategies Gold Assessments.

LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

Daily Lesson Plans incorporate PA Early Learning Standards. Ongoing assessments record your child’s growth and progress in key developmental areas- social & emotional, cognitive, and physical. Program observations are measured by the recommended PA STARS system for each age level. Each child is provided a Primary Care Giver to ensure quality home- school communication.

PROFESSIONAL STAFF

Staff members participate in annual trainings in health & safety, curriculum & observation, Pennsylvania Early Learning standards and inclusion. Staff memberships in the PA. Child Care Association and in the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Staff participate in the annual trainings offered at the York Area Association for the Education of Young Children Conference (YAAEYC) and maintain 24 credit hours of continuous education.

HEALTH & SAFETY

Daily checks are conducted on the classroom environment. Staff are certified in Pediatric first aid AED and CPR. Staff complete Mandatory Reporter Training Indoor and outdoor activities are offered with daily walks and gym time.
