The York Factory Whistle Concert
For over a century, the sound of factory whistles has heralded the yuletide season in York. This year marks the 70th anniversary of whistle maestro Don Ryan's involvement in this cherished tradition. On December 25 at 12:10 am, he'll be joined by his two apprentices, Nicholas Curry and Dr. Jon Moyer, for a melodious performance at the former Metso Corporation building at 240 Arch St. You don't need to be downtown to enjoy the show - the haunting tunes can be heard for miles around. The Glen Rock Carolers
Speaking of long-standing traditions, the Glen Rock Carolers are celebrating an incredible 177 years of spreading Christmas cheer through song. On December 24th, this beloved troupe will warm up with a special concert at Zion Lutheran Church starting at 10:45pm (doors open at 9pm). Seating ie limited, but don't worry - the performance will also be live streamed for those who can't attend in person.
After their warm-up, the carolers will gather at the town's only stoplight at the stroke of midnight to begin their annual trek through the streets. This year's route will take them along Church, Baltimore, Hanover, and Manchester, serenading Glen Rock with classic carols.
