The Black Rose Juniors offer a fun and unique sporting experience while creating and maintaining a positive social environment. Our league is made up of participants ages 7-17 with a variety of skating skills.
Through our program, the junior league will nurture bold self-confidence in youth by developing teamwork and athletic ability while treasuring individuality within a culture of integration, encouragement, and service to others!
The junior program aligns itself with the Black Rose Rollers (BRR). BRR is a WFTDA ranked roller derby team that was created in 2010.
We are currently practicing Sunday’s at the YWCA on Chestnut Street. Practices are 12pm-2pm. These times may change depending on the skill level of your child.

Where do I go?
Practices are held at the YWCA in Hanover, PA. It is the practice space for the Black Rose Rollers. You can park in the church parking lot adjacent to the building. We practice in their gymnasium.
Who are the coaches? Who will be at the classes?
Coaches are veteran Black Rose skaters and league coaches. They have all undergone background checks run by Protect Youth Sports and have had training via the JRDA. We will have at least one CPR certified coach or league member available at each practice, and there may be some additional skaters and/or league members to be a resource and answer any skater or parent questions.
Do I have to present proof of insurance?
Advanced skaters competing in bouts will be required to purchase Francis L Dean insurance through JRDA so that they are covered when playing outside opponents.
How much does it cost?
Currently, dues are $25 for the month. Our seasons run twice a year for 4 months each. You will be expected to purchase insurance and a uniform if you plan to compete.
What's the JRDA?
The Junior Roller Derby Association (JRDA) is a public non-profit educational and amateur sports organization that is dedicated to advancing the growth of roller derby through the standardization of rules and goals for existing and new leagues. It is the association we adhere to.

Black Rose has a limited amount of “loaner gear.” Like most leagues, our gear has been heavily used before being donated to the league. Generally speaking, loaner gear is the minimum amount of protection you need to be on skates.
