Adventures in Decorating and Santa Hat Making

Let it Snow!

By Julie Hall - Publisher/Editor of Macaroni Kid Gettysburg/Hanover January 13, 2018

I hope everyone is having a good week and enjoying this cold weather we’re having. I know my kids had fun in the tiny bit of snow we got last weekend. Our daughter even convinced Chris to make snow angels with her.

Speaking of Chris, he’s been looking for a Santa hat for years. But his head is so big that none of the ones in the stores fit him. He decided that the only way he’d get his Christmas wish was if I made him a hat. Let me just tell you, that fake fur stuff at the bottom of the hat is a PAIN. For all you sewing friends out there, I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. I had fuzz EVERYWHERE. Including inside my nose and under my contacts. The finished product was worth it, and it actually fits his giant noggin.

We’ve also finally finished decorating the house for Christmas. I’m not sure if you recall, but we started the first weekend of November. I was conservative with the lights in the tree this year, I think there’s probably only 2,500 or so. Last year we were at 3,100. I was trying not to be ridiculous. Chris 3D printed the snowflakes hanging from the ceiling and I worked on the snow slide.

But enough about us. Let's move on to giveaways! B&O Railroad Museum is giving away two 4-pack tickets to their Magical Holiday Express. You can read all about it and enter the drawing here. But hurry, the giveaway ends Friday 12/15/2017. There's also a giveaway for 10 Awesome Products for Traveling Moms, you can learn more here. This is a great article to forward to your own Santa if they need gift ideas.

I’ve posted a guide to Santa sightings on the site and they are also listed on the calendar. If you have your own Santa event and you’d like to add it to the guide and the calendar email me at juliehall@macaronikid.com or submit it directly through the site.

That’s pretty much what’s going on the Hall household this week.
