Gettysburg Rec Park Playground Project

By Julie Hall - Publisher/Editor for Macaroni Kid Gettysburg July 24, 2017

My Dear Macaroni Kid Family,

As parents, we all know our kids need a safe and fun place to get some fresh air and burn off some energy. Because let's face it, they have way too much of it. I know I can barely keep up with them! Well, good news! The Kiwanis Club of Gettysburg is hard at work building a brand-new playground for the community. Whether you're familiar with the Kiwanis Club of Gettysburg or not, I strongly encourage you to read this article. The Kiwanis Club of Gettysburg is a community organization made up of men and women who share the goal of serving the Gettysburg and Adams County areas through service to children and the community. Isn't that what Macaroni Kid families are all about?

The Kiwanis Club of Gettysburg and Gettysburg Area Recreation Authority are in the process of putting in a new playground at the Rec Park in Gettysburg and they need some help from the community. They are looking for able bodied volunteers to help erect the equipment on Friday, August 18 and Saturday, August 19. This playground will be an amazing addition to the Rec Park and your kids are sure to appreciate it. Personally, I'm really excited about the ground cover. I have no idea what it's called, but it's this soft, bouncy, rubbery material and it kind of feels like you're walking on a cloud. I need to find out how I can get some for my living room.

If you're not able to volunteer for the Build days but still want to help, there are other ways to contribute. The Club is still in the process of fundraising for the Playground Project and they need the community's help. In order to complete the project, they still need to raise $30,000. If 600 residents of Gettysburg would make a $50 tax deductible donation towards the Playground Project, they would reach their goal of $100,000! Of course, not everyone can contribute financially and that's okay, but if you're someone who can, please consider doing so for our kids.

All donations should be made out to
